I am alive...

I feel like I've been out of it for a while with my friends, family, and certainly with the blogging world. But I am alive and kickin.'

This past week Brian has been home for most of it. He is burning off vacation time so he doesn't loose it. We have been doing some relaxing but we are always trying to get a lot of stuff done. I have been enjoying having him home. On Thursday (in 90+ degree weather) we rented a huge truck to do yard work. We make two trips to the yard-waste dump and the regular dump. I did some major bush trimming in the yard and finally cleaned up all the bags left over from fall. It is so much easier to do all this trimming and cutting in the fall but I never got to it with being pregnant and all. I cut some bushes completely to the ground (they will grow back) but I intend to dig them up and hopefully give them to someone else. They simply are too big for our yard. While I worked in the yard Brian worked a bit in the shed. He got rid of a lot of old truck parts and has several bins of stuff he needs to sell. After we made our last trip to the dump (just in time before it closed!) we went to a pick up a cute Ikea bunk bed we bought from someone off of craigslist. We have been eyeing this particular bunk bed at Ikea everytime we go there. It took Brian a long time to dissemble it but while we waited the lady was super nice and let Garrett play with all their kid's toys while we waited. It was super nice that it worked out so well that we happened to have rented a truck that day! Garrett loves his new bunk bed and associated play space underneath it. So that was a long, hot but productive day. If I was more blogging savey I would have some pictures of the yard and the 2 vases full of roses from my garden. Each day since we have been trying to do some house projects but man my house is a mess in the process. Brian moved several large saws into the shed (yeah!) but now my utility room looks like a bomb went off in there and Garrett's room is in about the same state. But I did finally get our main living areas cleaned up (Catherine B- quick, come over and see it truely can be!) Brian and I have been talking for many months now about adding on to our house and even though I'm a bit apprehensive about adding on (or moving) I find myself daydraming a lot about how I need more space.

My friend Catherine and I also started running a little bit ago. It feels good to start moving again! We are following the Couch-2-5K Program.  I'm so glad I'm doing at least a little bit of exercise. For many months after the baby's birth I felt really good about my body and was totally fine with my post-pardum state. But lately I was starting to feel really bad about my body and feeling really flabby and just unfit. And I've been eating horribly. So exercising, even if I still look the same, makes me feel so much better about myself. And that about what matters most to me. I know it also helps with stress.  I am curious how much I weight but haven't weighted myself in probably 2 months (our scale is broken.)

Today we are preparing to leave tomorrow for Dutch Wonderland. We are taking our nephew (5 yrs old) with us. We will spend 2 nights in a hotel and 1 day at Dutch Wonderland, hangout in Lancaster a bit, and maybe visit my brothers while we are in PA. This is all for Garrett's birthday. He is turning 6 (June 1st) and he is super excited. We made a paper chain to help him count down to his birthday and he is so excited to see there are only 2 more chains remaining. He can't wait to go swimming first thing once we check into the hotel. It should be fun especially since he gets to take his "best friend" Chris Jr with him. We are also having a small back-yard birthday bash for him at the end of next week. I'm excited about our trip but at the same time feel like I"m chicken with my head cut off- running around trying to get the laundry done, house cleaned up, and doing stuff for my calling.

That is right, Girl's Camp is only about 3 weeks away and its busy, busy. I'm actually really glad I'm not the director because being the assistant is busy enough for me! I feel like camp this year is so rushed- we lost a month with it being at the end of June instead of July and a month is a lot of time to loose. Right now we are working on what we hope will be some awesome camp T-shirts! I am learning how to do some basic graphic editing. I want to post some pictures but not before the YW see them! So in about a week I will post them!

Tristan is teething and has a slight cold. He has been pretty cranky and not sleeping all too great. He actually is cutting more teeth then we first realized- working on several top teeth- bringing the total up to 5 teeth in various points of growth. He is also trying so hard to crawl. He has crawling backwards down very well! He will go forward for about 2 steps and then go backwards or lay down. He is trying to pull up on everything as well. And once, he honest to goodness stood up all by himself from a sitting position, not holding on to anything! But he fell almost instantly. He is one strong little boy. But I do want him to crawl for a long, long time before walking!

If you have actually read all of this long post, here is your easter egg reward.
"I want to wear this one Mom!"   (Tristan is exactly 7 months in this picture.)

I've been neglecting this blog. Life is life. Some good. Some bad. Some fun. Some boring. Here are just a bunch of pictures of my two boys.
